Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and Lunar Laser Ranging (LLR) Stations with global coverage use short-pulse lasers to aim retroreflector arrays on Earth orbiting satellites. The measurement process involve a two-way time of flight from ground stations to the satellites. SLR contribute to a precise detemination of the geocentric position of the Earth.
